Lodging tax: report by stay date, not payout date
Stay date vs payout date
Platforms pay hosts a day or so after check-in (or monthly for long stays), so totals by payout date drift from totals by stay date at every period boundary. Many tax offices ask for receipts by the date of the stay; Lodgetally defaults to check-in date.
Stays that cross a month end
Choose Nights in each month to split a stay's receipts across months in proportion to its nights — useful when your return is monthly. Amounts are split to the cent so totals still match.
Long stays
Airbnb splits stays of about a month or more into monthly rows. Lodgetally keeps them as one reservation for the long-stay exemption, while dating each row by its own start date.
